资源简介:
Photograph of an exterior view of the Silver Republican Club house in Los Angeles, ca.1897-1911. The two-story Victorian frame house is at center. The front door is near the corner of the building at right. A small balcony can be seen above the door. The walls are light-colored and are broken up by tall, narrow windows. The roof has wooden shingles on it, and a brick chimney can be seen at right. Several palm trees are visible in the foreground. A low wooden fence runs across the image in the foreground. Additional information: This clubhouse stood at 533 South Main Street. The Silver Republicans moved there in September 1897 from their former location at 318 West 2nd Street. The club disbanded and the Optic Theater was built at this address in 1911 along the street frontage. The house remained intact behind it, but was eventually demolished. The Optic Theater, too, was demolished in the 1980s. As of today (March 2015), the site is a parking lot.
