"This report was produced in response to a petition received from Center for Biological Diversity on May 31, 2016, to list the chambered nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). On August 26, 2016, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced in the Federal Register that the petition presented substantial information in support, such that a status review for the species should be conducted (81 FR 58895). This report is the status review for the chambered nautilus.
