A total of 90 subjects, including 53 patients with MDD and 37 healthy controls (HCs), were recruited from the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University. The MDD patients who had not experienced child maltreatment were assigned into a group marked as CTQ0, and the MDD patients who had experienced child maltreatment were assigned into a group marked as CTQ1. All the patients met the criteria for MDD in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fourth Edition (DSM-IV).
