By using a bifunctional organic ligand 4,4′-(1 H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylene-bis(benzonic acid) (H<sub>2</sub>tmb) which features both triazol and carboxylate groups, two new coordination polymers (CPs) {[Co(tmb)](H<sub>2</sub>tmb]·(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>5</sub>OH)<sub>0.5</sub>(H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>2.5</sub>}<sub>n</sub> (<b>1</b>) and [Cu(tmb)]<sub>n</sub> (<b>2</b>) have been successfully prepared using a solvothermal method by reaction of metal salts with the H<sub>2</sub>tmb in different solvent systems. The two complexes have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis (EA), IR spectrum analysis (IR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. In addition, the protective effect of complexes <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> on the acute lung injury was evaluated and the specific mechanism was explored. Firstly, the release level of the inflammatory cytokines was measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection kit. Next, the blood gas analysis was conducted to detect the PaO<sub>2</sub> and the PaCO<sub>2</sub> on acute lung injury model.
