Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer of Yank's Station, Lake Valley, California, 1860-1865. Caption: "Placerville - Carson route, Yank's Station, Lake Valley, between the east and west ranges of the Sierra Nevada [mountains], Fall-trade." Numerous horse- and donkey-drawn wagons, people, and livestock are gathered about the clearing around the busy station which consists of a large two-story building and several smaller buildings including a log cabin at right. One small building bears a sign reading "USC".
