State-building in the Shadow of War: EU Capabilities in the Fields of Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding in Afghanistan

This case study discusses the capabilities of the European Union in Afghanistan in the fields of conflict prevention and peacebuilding from 2001 until 2016. It has been produced as part of the project “Whole-of-Society Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding” (WOSCAP). This report complements the other in-depth research cases with a broader view of EU interventions regarding conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Georgia, Ukraine, Mali, and Yemen; and desk review studies in Sri Lanka, Kosovo, Guatemala and Honduras.
