Soil microbial communities - Disko 2013

The goal of the study was to investigate the effect of global warming on tundra soil microbial communities. To this aim, raw sequences for both fungal and prokaryotic communities were generated via Illumina Mi-Seq 2x250 bp paired-end platform, at the National High-throughput DNA Sequencing Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark. DNA and RNA were extracted from tundra top-soil samples collected in 2013 from a site located in Western Greenland (Disko island). The site included 6 different plots, each divided in control and treated sub-plots. Treatments included warming through open-top chambers (OTCs), snow fence, and OTCs+fence.
