La terminologia di mobili e complementi d'arredo: uno studio sugli atti notarili della Terra d'Otranto tra Seicento e Settecento

This work is based on the analysis and cataloguing of notarial acts drawn up in the pre-unification province of Terra d'Otranto mainly in the period between 1600 and 1700. The documents analysed were selected in order to identify the most recurrent furniture and furnishings and to allow the reconstruction of a broad and complete picture of the lexicon relating to this area. Differences emerge, especially in relation to non-essential and non-commonly used accessories, which typically characterise the dwellings of rich and noble families, while in the more humble environments, elements destined for more practical uses are mainly inventoried. Starting from the study of the documents and lexical analysis, a glossary was compiled, for which were used the main historical repertories and Italian usage and specific repertories on the lexicon of material culture in the modern age.
