The release contains genotypes from human and Plasmodium falciparum genetic variants, genotyped using blood samples from 4,171 children ascertained with severe symptoms of malaria at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (now the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital), The Gambia, and from the Kilifi District Hospital (now Kilifi County Hospital), Kenya in the period 1995-2009.
