The aim of the study was to characterize the fungal components of ash forests in Norway that are infected by the ash dieback fungus (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus). By amplifying fungal ITS sequences from ash leaves and samples from spore traps in the forest, we sought to determine the abundance of the pathogen as well as its effect on other fungal taxa.
