Maringeology 1:25,000

Maringeology 1:25 000 contains data on the distribution of soil types and rocks within the Swedish territorial sea and Swedish economic zone (EEZ). The product provides, among other things, information about the bottom material, the strength and formation methods of different sediments and the content of organic matter.

SGU is responsible for exploring and mapping bottom conditions within the Swedish territorial sea and Swedish economic zone (EEZ). The information produced is used as a basis for planning and deciding on the protection and use of the seabed, including in the design of marine civil engineering works and in environmental monitoring. It also forms an important basis for the Swedish Armed Forces and for biological inventories.
