Samples from hematopoietic organs of hybrid tilapia infected with the parasitic myxozoan Myxobolus bejeranoi (Cnidaria).

In this project we sampled tissues of hybrid tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) X O. aureus (Jordan/Blue tilapia)) infected with the parasitic myxozoa Myxobolus bejeranoi (Cnidaria) aiming to elucidate the cellular processes in the fish host following myxozoan infection. This parasite was found to infect tilapia gills leading to high infection and mortality, which has high economic impact on commercial fish farms.
