Bacteria widely exist on Earth as communities that consist of a massive number of bacterial species, and they often tend to coexist in symbiosis with other organisms. Previous studies showed an increase in alpha diversity of Intestinal microbiota over time in Hirschsprung disease mice and a decrease in diversity after surgery. Altered gut homeostasis maintenance mechanisms and immune system due to genetic susceptibility or defects in epithelial cell barrier components in Hirschsprung patients developing Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis have been reported. So, we explore microbiota composition in Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis compared with healthy individuals.
