Next generation semiconductor based sequencing of the donkey (Equus asinus) genome: comparison with the horse genome and mass discovery of single nucleotide polymorphisms

We sequenced the genome of two donkeys using the Proton Torrent sequencer and compared obtained sequence information with the available Equus asinus draft genome and with the EquCab2.0 assembly of the horse genome, for a comparative genome analysis between the two species.
