Quartz trace elements analyses from Macusani volcanic rocks (Peru)

This dataset comprises trace element analyses from the quartz crystals originating of the Macusani volcanic rocks (Peru). In-situ analysis of the several quartz growth zones was conducted using LA-ICP-MS. The initial objective of this study was to explore the conditions of crystallization of quartz in silicic and peraluminous plumbing systems, which contain significant concentrations of Li. At Macusani, thermobarometry based on Ti concentration in quartz reflects a polyphased crystallization of the quartz phenocryst, from the partial melting zone in the lower crust to the subsurface dyke during eruption. Furthermore, the Li concentration in the different generations of growth zones record distinct igneous processes at the origin of the outstanding Li enrichment of these rocks.
