Urban wildlife monitoring and molecular-biological analyses (Czech Republic, 2023–2025)

This dataset comprises two interrelated data collections generated within applied research focused on the occurrence and management of wild animals in urban environments in the Czech Republic. The first dataset contains field monitoring records of mammals and pigeons collected in urban settings using non-invasive methods such as camera trapping and direct observation. The data describe species occurrence, temporal activity patterns, and basic behavioural context at the level of individual detection events. The second dataset includes results of molecular-biological analyses of biological material, providing complementary laboratory-based information that supports species identification and verification of field observations. Together, these datasets form a comprehensive empirical basis for analysing urban wildlife occurrence and for supporting evidence-based decision-making in urban wildlife management, risk prevention, and mitigation of conflict situations between humans and wild animals. The data were collected, processed, and published as part of the comprehensive research report entitled “Strategic plan for controlling the occurrence of wild animals and mitigating related crisis situations in cities and municipalities”. The dataset was created with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the Environment for Life Programme, within the project “Veterinary and sociological aspects of the occurrence of wild animals in urban environments as a basis for their effective management and public administration decision-making” (Project No. SS06020195) and funded under the National Recovery Plan through the European Recovery and Resilience Facility.
