Tree-Level Dataset for Carbon Losses Associated with Large Trees (DBH ≥ 50 cm) in the Brazilian Amazon

Description This dataset contains tree-level data used in the study of carbon losses associated with large trees (DBH ≥ 50 cm) in the Brazilian Amazon. The database was compiled to support the assessment of forest structure, aboveground biomass, carbon stocks, and carbon losses associated with large trees in Amazonian forests. The dataset includes measurements and attributes related to individual trees with diameter at breast height (DBH) ≥ 50 cm, providing information suitable for analyses of forest structure and the contribution of large trees to aboveground biomass and carbon stocks. These data provide the empirical basis for the analyses presented in the associated scientific study and may also support further research on tropical forest ecology, forest management, biomass dynamics, carbon cycling, and climate-change mitigation. Large trees represent a particularly important component of tropical forest carbon stocks because individual large-diameter trees can store substantial amounts of aboveground biomass and carbon. Consequently, their removal or mortality can result in disproportionate carbon losses. Making these data openly available contributes to transparency, reproducibility, and the development of additional analyses concerning the ecological and carbon consequences of changes in large-tree populations in Amazonian forests.
