Bacterial composition of Arabidopsis roots, rhizosphere and bulk soil under nitrogen fertilization

We grew Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0 under three different nitrogen treatments that were supplied every 2-3 days: a mix of 17 L-amino acids, an inorganic nitrogen source (ammonium nitrate) and a no added nitrogen control. We aimed to evaluate the composition of the bacterial community in response to these inputs. After 21 days, the roots, rhizosphere, and distant soil were sampled and flash-frozen in liquid nitrogen for 16S rRNA gene sequencing (V4-V5 region, primers: 515F-Y and 926R).
