Transcriptomics Reveal the Genetic Coordination of Early Defense to Armillaria Root Rot (ARR) in Prunus spp.. Peach, Plum

Armillaria root rot (ARR) is a significant threat to the long-term productivity of stone-fruit and nut crops across the predominant production area in the United States. The most economical and sustainable approach to prevent production loss due to Armillaria infection is to develop ARR-resistant and horticulturally acceptable rootstocks. Genetic resistance to ARR has yet to be discovered in peaches but has been found in some exotic plum germplasm and a peach/plum hybrid rootstock, MP-29.
