Frequency of citation, mean citation position, cognitive salience index and Importance Value Index (IVI) of each plant associated with the “mature matupás” by inhabitants of the Amanã Sustainable Development Reserve (Amazonas, Brazil).

The cognitive salience index (S) is calculated according to the formula: S = F/(N*Pm), in which F = frequency of citation; Pm = mean position (rank) of the term in individuals lists; and N = total number of lists (interviews). Total number of lists for the “mature matupás” = 35.a IVI was obtained from inventories conducted in 10 matupás located in the study area (see S1 Information for details about inventories). IVI is calculated by the sum of relative density, relative frequency and relative dominance (basal area) of each woody plant species across all inventoried plots.
