Images and GIS from an Archaeological Evaluation at Maldon Road, Tiptree, Essex, January to February 2020

This collection consists of images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology. Work occurred on land to the north of Maldon Road, Tiptree, Essex, in January to February 2020. Fifty-eight trenches were excavated revealing a number of ditches and occasional pits. Some of the ditches are coincidental with boundaries marked on a 19th century tithe map although another group, located in the southern corner of the site, appear to predate this. The bulk of the pottery recovered from these ditches has been dated to the 12th-14th century although later medieval and early post-medieval sherds were also present.
