Here, we report the first annotated chromosome-level reference genome assembly for an amphibious plant, the East Asian endemic watermilfoil Myriophyllum oguraense. Studies at the morphological, physiological and multi-omics levels reveal the adaptative mechanisms underlying the switch between the two different life forms.
