Dataset and Code for "Birthplace Altitude, Athletic Performance, and Long-Distance Running Medals: An Ecologic Analysis of Olympic and World Championship Data"This repository contains supplementary materials for an ecologic study examining the association between athletes' birthplace altitude and long-distance running medals. Files include:<b>medal_df.xlsx</b>: Aggregated dataset of 660 medals from Olympic Games (1896–2024) and World Athletics Championships (1983–2023) across 52 countries. Columns cover country, medal counts (Olympic/World/Combined), weighted altitudes, and GDP per capita (2025 IMF estimates).<b>Appendix_B.R</b>: Reproducible R script for data cleaning, correlation analyses (Pearson/Spearman/partial), normality tests, and scatter plot generation (requires libraries: readxl, ppcor, ggplot2, showtext).Purpose: To support transparency and replication of analyses on hypoxia adaptations in endurance sports.
