We present experimental data on vertical swelling potential of natural and artificial clayey soils obtained from different regions across the world. The swelling data and the relevant soil properties were acquired from studies that employed standard soil testing techniques and followed recommended procedures to measure vertical one-dimensional swelling potential of the soil samples. In total, the dataset contains 518 soil swelling potential data points covering a wide range of properties/conditions relevant to field applications. The corresponding soil properties are the activity, water content, dry unit weight, liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index, and clay content. The dataset presented is of interest of geotechnical engineers and researchers dealing with expansive soils, and provides insights on the influences of various soil’s characteristics on swelling potential natural and artificial clayey soils.

本报告呈现了来自全球不同地区的天然及人工粘土土壤的垂直膨胀潜能实验数据。该膨胀数据及其相关土壤特性系由采用标准土壤测试技术并遵循推荐程序以测量土壤样本垂直一维膨胀潜能的研究项目所获得。总计,该数据集包含涵盖广泛与现场应用相关的特性/条件的518个土壤膨胀潜能数据点。相应的土壤特性包括活性、含水量、干密度、液限、塑限、塑性指数和粘土含量。所展示的数据集对地质工程师及处理膨胀土壤的研究者具有研究价值,并揭示了各种土壤特性对天然及人工粘土土壤膨胀潜能的影响。
