ATAC-seq and gDNA data used in "Discovery of a viral silencer element regulating HTLV-1 latency via RUNX complex recruitment"

This study identified an unreported open chromatin region (OCR) within the HTLV-1 provirus that functions as a transcriptional silencer. The host transcription factor RUNX1 localizes to this OCR and represses viral expression. Thus, this silencer helps HTLV-1 in evading immune surveillance, long-term persistence.
