Objective To investigate the common pathological mechanisms of Cardiogenic Stroke (CS) and Atherosclerosis (AS), especially the role of ferroptosis related genes(FRGs) in disease progression.Methods Gene ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia analysis and PPI network were used to analyze CS and AS FRGs in the GEO database. Machine learning methods, LASSO regression and SVM-RFE algorithms were applied to screen hub genes. Gene functions were verified by constructing diagnostic models of key genes and qRT-PCR.Results CIRBP, CREB5, MAPK14, PEBP1 and PTGS2 were identified as hub genes for CS and AS. These genes were closely associated with inflammatory and immunomodulatory pathways and showed high correlation with neutrophils.Conclusion The present study reveals the regulatory role of FRGs in CS and AS, which provides new targets for disease diagnosis and treatment, and enhances the research on targeted diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
