Lectio Socialis. https://doi.org/10.47478/lectio.1925493 The study uses interrupted time-series analysis and an event-study design to estimate the consumer-welfare effects of the 2014 (Crimea) and 2022 (Ukraine) Western sanctions on Russia across three outcomes: the consumer price index, food affordability, and regional purchasing power. Source data are compiled from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) and the Central Bank of Russia. Files (a single flat folder): sanctions.Rmd – main analysis script (R Markdown); reproduces all tables and figures. sanctions.html – knitted report, the rendered output of the script, for quick reading. RQ1.xlsx – RQ1 input: national overall and food CPI with macroeconomic controls (monthly). RQ2.xlsx – RQ2 input: food-affordability index and controls (monthly). RQ3.xlsx – RQ3 input: regional welfare data (annual); contains sheets RQ3 and add_region (region metadata). Data.xlsx – compiled source dataset (reference; not read by the script). CODEBOOK.md – variable definitions for all datasets. .RData – saved R workspace from a completed run (optional convenience). README.md – replication instructions. Requirements. R (version 4.4 or later recommended) with: tidyverse, readxl, lubridate, tseries, forecast, vars, strucchange, sandwich, lmtest, plm, lfe, fixest, broom, stargazer, and sjPlot. To reproduce. Download all files into one folder, set that folder as the R working directory, open sanctions.Rmd, and Knit (or run the chunks from top to bottom). The script reads RQ1.xlsx, RQ2.xlsx, and RQ3.xlsx from the working directory and regenerates the consumer-price, food-affordability, and regional purchasing-power analyses (Tables 1–3 and the corresponding figures).
