Temperature_Climatology_Monthly_Northern-Patagonia_Chile.nc contains a monthly climatology of the sea temperature in the Chilean Northern Patagonia, Chile (41.0°S to 47.0°S and 72.2°W to 75.1°W) with a spatial resolution of 0.008° (~900m). The climatology is based on in situ data and represents an average temperature for each month of the year at 32 different depths (0m-400m). Based on in situ data from 1948 to 2023.This dataset can be used independently of a marine heatwave study, and is suitable for any study related to the sea temperature in Northern Patagonia.
Temperature_Climatology_Daily_Northern-Patagonia_Chile.nc contains a daily climatology of the sea temperature in the Chilean Northern Patagonia, Chile (41.0°S to 47.0°S and 72.2°W to 75.1°W) with a spatial resolution of 0.008° (~900m). The climatology is based on in situ data and represents an average temperature for each day of the year at 14 different depths (0-100m). Based on in situ data from 1948 to 2023.The daily climatology is derived from the monthly one and has been smoothed using a 90-days moving average.This dataset can be used independently of a marine heatwave study, and is suitable for any study related to the sea temperature in Northern Patagonia.
Temperature_Thresholds_daily_Northern-Patagonia_Chile.nc contains daily sea temperature thresholds in the Chilean Northern Patagonia, Chile (41.0°S to 47.0°S and 72.2°W to 75.1°W) for the detection of marine hatwaves and marine cold spells. It has a spatial resolution of 0.008° (~900m). The thresholds were determined using the 10th (cold spells) and 90th (heatwaves) percentiles of MODIS AQUA satellite data. As with the climatology, a 90-day moving average has been applied. This dataset is available for surface temperatures only (0m). Based on satellite data from 2003 to 2023.This dataset is aimed to be used with the daily climatology of the sea surface temperature and the daily sea surface temperature dataset for detection of marine cold spells and marine heatwaves.
Temperature_SST_2003-2023_Daily_Northern-Patagonia_Chile.nc contains the daily sea surface temperature (SST) of the Chilean Northern Patagonia, Chile (41.0°S to 47.0°S and 72.2°W to 75.1°W) from 2003-01-01 to 2023-06-01 with a spatial resolution of 0.008° (~900m). It comes from L3 daily MODIS AQUA measurements, interpolated with DINEOF (Alvera-Azcárate et al., 2011). This dataset is aimed to be used with the daily climatology and thresholds of the sea surface temperature for detection of marine cold spells and marine heatwaves.
