Whole Genome Shotgun Sequencing Project of Streptomyces sp. strain CWH03

The strain CWH03 was isolated from a sea sediment sample collected from Ishigaki Island, Okinawa prefecture, Japan. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the neighbor-joining tree showed that the strain CWH03 formed a monophyletic clade with Streptomyces spongiicola, S. tirandamycinicus and S. wuyuanensis. However, average nucleotide identity (ANI) values of the strain CHW03 were 88-93% with the species in the monophyletic clade. These ANI values were lower than the species threshold of 95-96%, suggesting that the strain CHW03 was a novel species of the genus Streptomyces. As a result of the chemical investigation, the strain CWH03 was indicated to produce a peptidic compound.
