Private health expenditures per capita in Spain 2022, by autonomous community

In 2022, Madrid was the autonomous community with the highest private health expenditure per capita in Spain, amounting to approximately 936 euros, from which 599 euros were out-of-pocket expenses and 337 euros were spent on private health insurance. However, La Rioja ranked first on the list considering private out-of-pocket health expenditures that year, reaching around 671 euros per person. As of 2021, the health products with the largest average household expenditure in Spain were therapeutic appliances and equipment.
