Unraveling a novel rabies cycle in Brazil

A second case of a novel rabies variant previously described in a capuchin monkey from Mato Grosso, Brazil, was discovered in a rabid wild kinkajou from the same region. This report revisits the origins of such variant to suggest its most likely host and discusses potential implications for public health.
