Cicer and Lens species are one of the main important crops in worldwide and one of the primary components of the human plant-based dietary. Chloroplasts are organelles responsible for photosynthesis in plant cells, which have their own genetic material, and the chloroplast genome contains detailed information about the molecular structure and evolutionary process of plants. In this project we aimed to generate the first draft genome of wild Cicer types and wild Lens types and investigate their genome structure, gene organization and conservation levels. Chloroplast genome sequencing procedures were carried out at BGI (Hong Kong, China) in the BGI-SEQ 500 next generation sequencing platform. The Whole Chloroplast Genome Sequencing (WGS) perspective was applied with the DNA Nanoball Sequencing method.
