Whole genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 in Estonia

The Health Board of Estonia aims to sequence SARS-CoV-2 from Covid-19 positive individuals in Estonia. The goal is to generate a data set combining SARS-CoV-2 sequencing derived genomic information with epidemiological and clinical data with the potential to guide interventions and policy makers decisions during the current COVID-19 epidemic in Estonia. The sequencing effort is coordinated through ECDC/European Commission-supported high-throughput SARS-CoV-2 WGS support program and performed by Eurofins Genomics Europe Sequencing GmbH (Jakob-Stadler-Platz 7, 78467 Konstanz, Germany). The original data has been uploaded to GISAID database (we do not cross-reference the sequences). The datasets from this project are integrated into a combined data set alongside with the virus sequencing performed by KoroGeno-EST-3 consortium to provide a comprehensive overview of COVID-19 epidemic in Estonia. The final goals overlap with the ones stated for the KoroGeno-EST-3 consortium project.
