The goals of this project is to evaluate the difference in mRNA expression between rhinovirus and influenza virus infection in vitro, to verify the importance of individual genes that are important for the pathogenesis of rhinovirus infection and to find out whether treatment targeting these genes can improve survival/decrease pathology. Recent isolates of the viruses are used to provide an updated picture of infections caused by circulating strains.
