资源简介:
The Mountain Pygmy-possum (Burramys parvus) and the Smoky Mouse (Pseudomys fumeus) are two Endangered small mammals from South Eastern Australia for which National Recovery Plans have been prepared under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), yet their numbers continue to decline. Both species are severely impacted by Predation by the feral Cat Felis catus and Predation by the European Red Fox Vulpes vulpes.
This project aims:
To develop more effective control of feral cats and foxes by using trained cat and fox detection dogs to aid in the location of these predators.
To reverse population declines in The Mountain Pygmy-possum and the Smoky Mouse.
To locate new populations of Smoky Mice with the aid of detection dogs.
