资源简介:

The Census of Agriculture is the basic inventory of Canadian agriculture taken every five years. Questions are asked on a variety of topics including farm land use, crops, livestock, paid agricultural labour, land management practices, etc.

In 1996, persons running an agricultural operation that produced any of the following agricultural products intended for sale were asked to complete the Census of Agriculture questionnaire: crops (field crops, tree fruits or nuts, berries or grapes, vegetables, seed); livestock (cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, exotic animals); poultry (hens, chickens, turkeys, exotic birds); animal products (milk or cream, eggs, wool, furs, meat); or other agricultural products, (greenhouse or nursery products, Christmas trees, mushrooms, sod, honey and maple syrup products).

The Census of Agriculture identifies trends, issues and successes within the agricultural community and has become the backbone of Canada's agricultural statistics program. It provides comprehensive information on the industry, from the township/rural municipality level to the national level, used to make important decisions.
