Coat of arms of Bishop D. Bernardino

Heraldic coat of arms of Bishop D. Bernardino López de Carvajal y Sande (1495-1511), who replaced Pedro González de Mendoza at the head of the Diocese of Sigüenza (Spain). Born in 1456 in Plasencia (Cáceres), he studied at the University of Salamanca. He was appointed Bishop of Astorga (1488-1489), Badajoz (1489-1493), Cartagena (1493-1495), Sigüenza (1495-1511), and Plasencia (1513-1523). He was one of the most influential men of his time with strong international connections. He passed away in 1523 and was buried in Rome.
