A bacterial biofilm was grown onto recycled membranes during a toxic cyanobacterial bloom; hence, many of attached bacteria are microcystin-degrading bacteria candidates. Tested recycled membranes are of interest as low-cost and environmental-friendly support materials for membrane biofilm reactor, which could be highly useful for microcystin removal.
