This file contains the complete raw data used in macroecological assessment of potentially equivalent small mammal species at 401 local sites in North America (201 sites), South America (103 sites), and the Gobi Desert of Central Asia (97sites). Sites in the Gobi Desert are separated to 3 distinct regions, and as such are distinguished as Gobi-1, Gobi-2, and Gobi-3. Column definitions: Region = Geographic region - Gobi (1, 2, or 3), North America, South America. SiteNum = Reference to site number, numbered separately by Region. Species_Recorded = 6-letter codes for species recorded at the focal site. Enclosed in round brackets () for ease of review. 999 = no species recorded. Species abbreviations are in Appendix A. Species_Pool = 6-letter codes for species in the species pool for the focal site. Enclosed in round brackets () for ease of review. Species abbreviations are in Appendix A.
