Next-generation sequencing of 18S rRNA genes in marine sediments from the Hunter River estuary and coast

Extreme storms that result in heavy precipitation can also drive significant inputs of stormwater and terrigenous sediment into estuaries and offshore with unknown consequences for many of the exposed organisms. This project aims to investigate the identity of sediment microbial communities in the Hunter River estuary and along the coast, before and after a major flooding event.
