资源简介:
River dolphins act as indicators of river health in the basins where they live. Halda, the only tidal freshwater river of the Earth is home to approximately 160 Ganges dolphins. But the population has plummeted in recent years. Despite being one of the three obligatory freshwater dolphins in the world, Ganges River dolphin- Platanista gangetica gangetica is categorized as 'Endangered' by the IUCN Red List (2018). Therefore, genomic information on wild P. gangetica from Halda river would aid in understanding diversity and population dynamics, and thereby support its conservation and management. Moreover, the data will help explore evolutionary relationship with closely related species.
