资源简介:

This repository is associated to the publication published with the title "Glacier surge monitoring from temporally dense elevation time series: application to an ASTER dataset over the Karakoram region" (Beraud et al., 2025).It contains elevation change maps produced by the workflow, stacks of elevation interpolated by the workflow as netCDF files, the Python script of the workflow, and vector outlines used in the study. The elevation change maps and the elevation stacks covers several HMA regions, including Karakoram the study area of the publication. It covers the areas the most prone to surge events over 2000-2020, in the following regions: Karakoram, Pamir, Central Tien Shan, Eastern and Western Kunlun Shan. _______________________________Content of the data repository: Elevation change maps (archive dh_maps_[region].zip, containing raster **.tif files) Regional maps of the elevation changes over different periods (3 years, 5 years, and 2002-2019), interpolated results in metres (m). Name: dh_[date1]_[date2].tif Surge-affected areas (archive selectedGlaciers_Areas.zip, containing vector **.gpkg files) Surge-affected areas drawn manually of four selected glacier surges, divided into reservoir and receiving areas. Python script dem_processing_publi.py Script with the implementation of the workflow presented in this study. Python script Starter_ASTERdems.py Introductory script with basic functions to use the interpolated ASTER dataset. Processed DEMs, interpolated ASTER stacks (stacks_[region].zip, containing **.nc files) Archive with ASTER stacks interpolated with the workflow, in .nc NetCDF format. The area of each stack is 1x1° tiles, the name in the format "N38E075" correspond to the bottom left coordinate of the tile (N38E075: longitude 75° to 76°, latitude 38° to 39°). The Coordinate Reference System of each stack can be retrieved in the stack attributes, see Starter_ASTERdems.py, function open_plot_stack(). Processed DEMs merged by regions, interpolated ASTER stacks (stacks_merged_by_region.zip, containing **.nc files) Archive with ASTER stacks interpolated with the workflow, in .nc NetCDF format. [region]_merged_ALPS-REML.nc files in the directory are the product of the merging of 1x1° tiles product 5., for which all the region tiles are merged after bilinear interpolation on the same coordinate grid (slight loss of quality expected for some tiles). _______________________________Associated publication: Beraud, L., Brun, F., Dehecq, A., Hugonnet, R., and Shekhar, P.: Glacier surge monitoring from temporally dense elevation time series: application to an ASTER dataset over the Karakoram region, The Cryosphere, 19, 5075–5094, https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-19-5075-2025, 2025.
