<b>Global impact of geopolitical conflicts on freight marine traffic</b>

· This study quantitatively analyzes the impact of geopolitical conflicts on global maritime traffic using 30 months of cargo ship activity data.· The Russia-Ukraine conflict restructured the maritime network in the Black Sea, with Odessa Port's shipping density dropping to 55% of pre-war levels, while nearby ports saw a surge in maritime activities.· The Red Sea crisis prompted route adjustments, reducing large vessel activities in the Mediterranean and Arabian Seas while increasing those of smaller ships, especially container ships.· Alternative routes such as the Caspian Sea and the Cape of Good Hope saw shipping density soar by up to 250%.· The study provides recovery curves for different regions and explores opportunities amid geopolitical disruptions.
