Hydrogen dynamics in TiFe alloys with Zr and Hf additions

The metal hydride TiFe is presently used commercially for hydrogen storage. However, the first hydrogenation is difficult and the hydrogen capacity drop with cycling. One way to solve these problems is to add Zr or Hf as additive in the melt. We want to see how the hydrogen vibration states change when Zr or Hf is added and also if there is some relationship with decrease capacity. The two compositions TiFe + 4 wt.%Zr and TiFe + 4 wt.%Hf will be investigated in three different hydrogen loading to see the effect of hydrogen capacity on the vibration states. We estimate that only one measurement at 10K will be sufficient for each composition and hydrogen loading. Two days will be sufficient to perform all the intended measurements.
