资源简介:
Data for the manuscript "Salt stratification and predator cues: Impacts on native and invasive freshwater species"
Data is in 3 files. Metadata for each file is below:
Habitat selection data (SaltInversion_BehaviorObservations_Final_pub.csv)
- Tank = Mesocosm ID
- Date = date of observation
- Time = Time of observation
- ExpDay = Day of the experiment
- ObsNum = Observation number for mesocosm
- Day.time = Time of day of observation (morning or afternoon)
- Predator.Cue = "Crush" - crushed snail cue added, "No Crush" - water disturbed but no crushed snail cue added
- Snail - species of snail in mesocosm, pouch snails = "Physa", mystery snails = "Mystery"
- Salt = "Salt" - stratified salt added to bottom of mesocosm, "No Salt" - plain water added to bottom instead of salt
- Out.of.Water = Number of snails crawled out of the water.
- Surface = Number of snails floating on water surface.
- Shallow = Number of snails off the surface, but less than 15cm deep.
- Middle = Number of snails between 15 and 30 cm deep in the mesocosm.
- Deep = Number of snails off the bottom but greater than 30cm deep.
- Bottom= Number of snails on the bottom of mesocosm.
- Under.Tiles - Number of snails under the tiles at the bottom - Only counted on last day, considered as on the bottom in analysis.
- Total.Seen = Total number of snails seen in all locations
Survival and reproduction data (SaltInversion_EndSurvival.csv)
- Tank = mesocosom ID
- Date = Date mesocosm taken down and all animals/eggs sampled
- PredatorCue = Whether crushed snail was present or not
- Snail = species of snail in mesocosm, pouch snails = "Physa", mystery snails = "Mystery"
- Salt = "Salt" - stratified salt added to bottom of mesocosm, "No Salt" - plain water added to bottom instead of salt
- LiveSnails = total number of live snails recovered from mesocosm
- DeadSnails = total number of dead snails recovered from mesocosm
- Dragonfly = were dragonfly larvae observed?
- Eggs_tile = egg masses counted on the tiles. Only Physa laid eggs
- Eggs.Shallow = egg masses counted depth < 15cm, counted on eastern half of mesocosm only
- Eggs.Middle = egg masses counted depth >15cm, <30cm , counted on eastern half of mesocosm only
- Eggs.Deep = Egg masses counted off bottom but >30cm deep , counted on eastern half of mesocosm only
- Total_eggs = total eggs counted
- Total_eggsB = estimate of total eggs laid, taken by adding eggs on bottom to twice the number of eggs counted on the eastern half of the mesocosm.
- Comments - comments about the mesocosm
Salt concentration data (Inversion_SaltConc.csv)
- Tank = mesocosom ID
- Date = Date mesocosm measured
- PredatorCue = Whether crushed snail was present or not
- Snail = species of snail in mesocosm, pouch snails = "Physa", mystery snails = "Mystery"
- Salt = "Salt" - stratified salt added to bottom of mesocosm, "No Salt" - plain water added to bottom instead of salt
- Time = time measurement was taken
- TempShallow = Temp in C at about 15cm
- SaltShallow = Salinity in mg/L of Cl- at 15cm
- TempMiddle = Temp in C at about 30cm
- SaltMiddle = Salinity in mg/L of Cl- at 30cm
- TempBottom = Temp in C at about 45cm, just above bottom
- SaltBottom = Salinity in mg/L of Cl- at 45cm, just above bottom
- SaltBottomCensor = Whether an exact reading is available (1), or if it is a minimum reading (0)
- Comments - comments about measurements.
Analysis is in two files. The html file shows the code and output for the analyses presented in the paper. The rmd file has the raw code for the analyses and was used to create the html file. This code can be run in Rstudio, or the chunks of code can be run directly in R.
