Using a towel, SDJ shows how the loincloths were dyed, by immersing them gradually in the dye several times and then rinsing them in water. He then explains how the prices were set according to the size and type of the pieces of fabric, as well as the colour obtained. He describes the calendering process using the pokotiru mallet. He concludes by emphasising that this dyeing work was not seasonal, but could be carried out all year round, including during the rainy season.
