The Verti-Wheelers dataset was developed by the Department of Computer Science at George Mason University to support research on the mobility of wheeled robots in vertical challenging terrains. It comprises recordings of two wheeled robots manually navigating various vertical challenging terrains on a custom-built testbed, with a total of 116,810 data frames. The dataset includes RGB images, depth images, wheel speeds, ground velocity, differential lock/release states, low/high gear shift states, linear velocity, and steering angle. To compile this dataset, researchers repeatedly reconfigured the testbed and manually operated the robots to collect the data. The primary applications of this dataset focus on enhancing the autonomous navigation capabilities of wheeled robots in complex terrains, addressing the issue that traditional wheeled robots cannot traverse vertical obstacles.
