Metagenomic analyses of the RNA viral communities in marine algae

We performed metagenomic analyses for RNA viral community by targeting dsRNA and ssRNA in marine algae to reveal the major RNA viruses associated to several marine algae linages. We collected marine algae in front of National Research Institute of Fisheries and Environment of Inland Sea, Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency on February, 18, 2016. The algae samples were disrupted in liquid nitrogen in a mortar, and extracted dsRNA and ssRNA. ssRNA and dsRNA were applied to sequencing with the Illumina MiSeq platform.
