Agricultural Manpower in England and Wales, 1970; Farmers and Growers

To discover whether the shrinking labour force could achieve the expansion programme envisaged by the Economic Development Committee.<br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR><br>Attitudinal/Behavioural Questions<br>
Whether respondent was manager of the farm, number of hours worked by farmer and spouse (weekly average over the year), other work done on other holdings, type of work done, proportion of working time spent on various tasks and activities, whether first job was in agriculture/horticulture, type of training and/or apprenticeships, formal training in agricultural or non-agricultural subjects, previous employment, sources of influence and advice for entry into agriculture, medical attention received for illness/injury attributed to work. Respondents were asked to mention any problems of recruiting or retaining men of suitable calibre.<br>

Age, school leaving age, marital status, qualifications (educational and agricultural).<br>
Farm size, type, crop acreage, number of workers.
