Upper Archives is a set of 2 CD-ROMs containing standard rawinsonde code (WMO 35-X TEMP format, with TTAA, TTBB, and PPBB parts). Each file contains upper level data in standard text format for over 50 North American rawinsonde sites at a specific date and hour. There are thousands of these files, providing continuous hourly coverage, 2 files per day (0000 and 1200 UTC), for every day from 1958 to 1995. This enables upper-level weather charts from any day between 1958 and 1995 to be reconstructed and analyzed. The datasets were constructed for researchers, investigators, insurance adjusters, students, authors, and hobbyists. A fully functional, complimentary WeatherGraphix program is included which can read these datasets and produce weather charts on the fly.
